Artist's Description

The original church on this site was completed in 1834. 50 years later it was demolished after a large crack appeared in the wall. The foundation stone of the new church was laid on 2nd May 1883 and the contractor was Walter Fish, of Oatlands. It was consecrated by Bishop Sandford on 29th April 1888 and was described at the time as ‘of the usual style of Mr Hunter’s buildings, excellent in design and substantial in construction.
