Trigger

They soon realise that the planet is earth and as they look for survivors they find, a large multinational supermarket chain, Asco are drilling into the core of the planet, threatening any remaining life.

Resolution

They attempt to stop Asco but soon realise that there are bigger threats than the demon from within and are submitted into becoming spiritual in light of their impending doom.

Key exerts from the story.

Resolution

I look up at the stars now and I wonder what will come. It’s fascinating, I’m not even worried. I feel numb, disconnected. My stomach is in knots, but I’m floating. As though my natural anaesthetic and has both calmed me and enlightened my spirit; devoid of the intense knowledge I carry. Almost; an hallucinogen. I’m not sure if this is real anymore. All I can be sure of is, the journey I have taken. It has certainly bared its scars. I know the worst has happened, the unspeakable. The future no longer lies in our hands, but is determined by two other species; and more. Two other worlds out there somewhere, determine our fate. Funny thing is that we don’t even know what they look like.

We should have seen it coming. After all, nature, survival, life itself dictates its own destiny. Ant’s, humans, and aliens all follow this pattern it seems. Colonise an area, wait for it to build, then take whatever goods you need whenever you need them. The only thing is, that when the aliens colonised this planet, modifying the ape, what 100,000 years ago, or before that, 1 billion years ago sowing the seeds of life, or 6 billion years ago smashing our planet with another planet like marbles, to create our earth and moon; whenever it was, constantly perhaps; over time.

Now they have returned to plunder, they didn’t count on another alien race with the same idea. Their war is our war. As they battle it out in the skies, they have left us with nothing here but un-breathable atmosphere and a failing magnetic field. Even if corporate barons of Asco had managed to get it going again we would have lived a life of oppression through greed and the desperation and fear like we have never lived through before. We are all workers now. Huh.

Do aliens exist? I laugh at such a question. I wish they didn’t. Does god exist? I just don’t know, but I respect him more now than ever. God is a voyeur as far as I can see or he just has a wicked sense of humour. I respect the man. He doesn’t get involved. I don’t like it, but I understand it. There are probably other alien species out there watching too, watching and listening, but they don’t get involved. Proximus Centari is 4 light years away, there. I could never see the stars for all the smog but now they are as beautiful as they were in the shuttle. I hope you’re watching Proximus.
