Canine Schwartz

I’ve seen a little black dog,
It follows me around,
But when I say to speak,
It doesn’t make a sound,

It just stares at me,
It’s eyes they are so dark,
As empty as my soul,
They say more than any bark,

I’m swallowed up inside them,
The longer that I stare,
The emptiness they fill me with,
The complete lack of care,

Then I wake up in a cold sweat,
And I start to shiver,
As I see the dog again,
Inside my bathroom mirror.
