In my absence over the last few months..

Hey everyone,…

Recently, I’ve been missing in action on here, for the most part. Spending most of my time away from RB and my folios has been a big change for 2012. I will be returning soon though and I’m sorry to say I’ve missed a lot of your great art on here in recent months. That will be changing soon :)

Having said that, this is what I have been up to…

I’ve managed to get myself involved in three exhibitions, two in Melbourne and one in Barcelona. All of them are taking place between June and August this year, so it’s been a race to the finish to organise myself for all three at once!

I was lucky enough to be selected and approved for this exhibition, taking place in Casa Batllo in Barcelona. Anyone familiar with the architectural works of Antoni Gaudi would know Batllo is a prominen

Upcoming Exhibitions..

I received some really exciting news last night and wanted to share it with my bubble crew :)…

I’ve been accepted into the Melbourne Independent Photography Festival 2012. I read my acceptance email at 1am and I didn’t get much sleep last night :)

The festival will run from April 2nd (opening night) until April 8th 2012. Each day of the festival will play host to a different event, all photography based, ranging from exhibitions and displays to book launches and screenings of new projects.

My involvement is with the Photo Prize 2012. Over 200 works have been selected from around the world and will be displayed in a juried exhibition, with winners announced on opening night.

I entered three pieces from my Lensbaby Dreamscapes series, shown below.

Pacifica Tile Art Studio

I got some good news last week..

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Pacifica Tile Art Studio, a company who create tiles and splashbacks for bathrooms and kitchens both residentially and commercially. They were interested in incorporating my images in their online gallery and for tile murals and splashboard designs. We have since entered into agreement to reproduce four of my works as tile designs.

Below are the images Pacifica have chosen, they click through to the sites web page.

Project 1/52

Welcome to my Project 1/52

Johanne Brunet is the brains behind this brilliant idea to choose an object and/or theme and follow it week by week, capturing one image per week for an entire year. The project is being completed on Facebook and all participating will be uploading images to the Project 1/52 group.

The basis of this project is to explore ideas, expand skills and horizons, experiment, challenge ourselves and enjoy the experience.

I chose my Ansco Rediflex as it’s been a potential shoot subject for a very long time now. Always in the back of my mind, yet I never got around to capturing it. I can’t think of a better subject to focus on for an entire year than one that has been a huge part of my photographic life, but remained a humble and quiet achiever. :)

The last few months in a wrap up..

Hey everyone,…

I’ve been relatively quiet on here for the last few months. Real life really took me away from my folio time and kept me very busy! I’m slowly shifting the focus back to on here and my other folios now, just in time for Christmas to take over and pull me away again. Tides of life :)

I’ll be back with more time this month and with a lot more time (I hope) next year, but here is what’s been happening in my life…

The Wedding

My sister asked me if I’d be interested in shooting her friend’s wedding. My initial reaction was to recoil in horror and say a definite no. She proceeded to tell me it would be a very relaxed and unplanned kind of shoot. I apprehensively said yes, thinking it would turn into my biggest nightmare.

As it turned out, it wasn’t too bad at all. Very chaotic, di

Avalon Incident.. the story so far

Just over a month ago, I did a shoot with a friend, Mahalia Brown. She modelled and posed for me in a strange are of Melbourne known as Altona Beach. This place had a bizarre vibe and look to it. We drove past what looked like beach front shacks to a half made car park and out onto a wasteland that resembled a beach. It looked like a tropical haven gone wrong.…

I started shooting Mahalia walking around the beach / wasteland and a story started forming in my head. I didn’t know it at the time, but this shoot would soon turn into a photo-drama series.

Below are the first set of images, and the first part of the story. We are now half way through telling our female character’s story. I have left the out the written component of the story on these images, allowing you to form your own. If you
