Artist's Description

I booked a day tour and travelled by boat from the coastal town of Puerto Lopez to Isla de la Plata (Silver Island). It got its name from Sir Francis Drake and his supposedly buried silver treasure there. The island is some 30 km off the mainland. The island supports a dry tropical scrub vegetation and is an important nesting site and is also an important breeding and nesting site for many, many blue footed booby birds which are my favourite bird, masked boobies, frigate birds, waved albatrosses, mocking birds, pelicans and more. I actually sighted more blue footed booby birds here than I did in the Galapagos Islands. This photo I call the ‘booby dance‘. They are so cute and I just love their bright blue feet.
