Artist's Description

These bank swallow chicks become very demanding about being fed!

The bank swallow is a small slender songbird with white underneath and brown on top, a dark band across chest, extending down middle of chest, small bill, and long wings.

Bank swallows nest in colonies in streamside banks across much of North America.

This colony probably had about fifty holes and several dozen swallows nesting in about a ten foot high sand bank at the Warren Dunes State Park in Michigan.

Taken with a Canon 7D DSLR and 100-400mm Lens.
