Do you believe

Do you believe, in life after Death
In love,in loss, a peaceful rest
The power of prayer, the holy ghost
An evil deed, an evil thought
The ancient rites that we forgot
The rights of passage through time and space
The shaman and the Inca priest
Ancient Greeks and mythical beasts
Words of wisdom heroic deeds
The wealthy man, the poor to feed
The sands of time, the weathered stone
Stars in heavens a long time gone
That shone to Earth that distant morn
The dark of night that hurts the eye
A whisper of a last goodbye
The drops of rain on barren sands
That nurtures not the thirsty man
Who rises from the grains of sands
In countless billions, from this land
Of all the tribes of bygone man
Who in their time this Earth did roam
Now lie forgotten grains of sand
Upon the shores and deserts of this land
You may think its not for me to contemplate
Of ancient man and his forgotten fate
As you walk through the deserts of this life
Beware of sand in eyes or shoe
Its ancient man getting back at you
As you rub your eyes, squirm and turn
A part of you he will become
So tread with care, and give a thought
To ancient man that you forgot
For maybe in a thousand years
You maybe in someones eyes and ears
Do you believe.
