Soldier of Morpheus

Where are the auld folks, I knew longago
When a was a laddie, in forty twa
Auld Jimmy, Auld Hughie,Peter and Paul
There all away now, gone tae the wall
They seemed perpetual would last all my life
They had families, some even had wives
But they are all gone now, lost in the past
We now are the auld folks, we are the front line
Auld wullie, auld Andy, and even Con, we are the auld folks
The leader in life, the shock troops of Morpheus
The warriors of time
Our uniform is grey, with wrinkles galore
Not handsome and suntanned, not as before
I feel like an agent, undercover of time
In the guise of a pensioner, not looking so fine
I’m twenty-one I shouldn’t be here
Its all right for the auld folks, but thats not for me
I’m a free spirit, I have to break out
Out of this grey suit, and into the light.
