INTO THE LIGHT

I hear your call, your voice so clear
Like sweet, sweet, music to my ear
I feel your touch, so soft and warm
To keep me safe, away from harm.

I see your eyes, so soft and blue
The knowing look, the things you do
Your gentle nature, the sense of joy
The pleasant thoughts, the forgotten toy

Your laughter on a sunny day
As you ran to school, or out to play
The cuddle as you went to bed
The story book, you never read

The drawing on the kitchen wall
The one you did, when you were small
The lock of hair, beside the frame
The snow flakes, on your window pane

The room you left, in such a mess
The discarded toy, beside the chest
The shock of loss, the silent cry
To hold your hand, in our last goodbye…
