LOOK, LOOK.

Look look,what do you see
When you look out after me
Do you see the person I am
Or the shadow of the person I was
Look; look what do you see
When you look out after me.

Who is this stranger, who’s looking at me
Holding my hand as I take my tea
He talks to me but I don’t understand
He must be foreign, or from a strange land
I wish he would go now and leave me be
I really would like to get on with my tea
He smiles so sweetly, and still holds my hand
He calls me Mother, I don’t understand
I stare back at his sad eyes, there’s a look a look of surprise
I wonder whats wrong with him,is he stupid or even dim
I’ve finished my tea now, I would go for a nap
He is still there talking non-stop
I don’t understand, I haven’t a clue
I open my mouth to say a choice word
He sticks in a chocolate,Is that not absurd
Its not that I don’t like chocolates, the opposite is true
I just wish I knew what he’s trying to do
The visit is over peace once again
I can sit in my chair, go for a walk
Swear at the neighbours or try on a frock
Lie on my bed and go for a sleep
I don’t have to talk to the people I meet
I wish my family would come now and then
Billy and Nora, maybe some day, but that’s not to be
They live in the real World
Along way from here
