Artist's Description

Mt Bosavi, in the Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, is an ancient volcano with a crater nearly five kilometers wide and a kilometer deep. The inside walls are sheer and jungle clad. The world inside the crater is isolated and, until very recently, utterly unexplored. Here is a view of Bosavi from a remote village in the plains that spread from the foot of the volcano. This image is not tweeked in any way. It is a slow shot in the late afternoon during a wicked sunset.
