a native of Oakland, California and has been painting for over 30 years.
Living in a rich-multicultural environment she took note of the faces and trends that
marked times of history and interest and began to paint those faces; from Michael
Jackson to Michael Jordan, from Frederick Douglas to Steve Jobs, all faces that held a special interest and inspired her portrait painting. Cheryl Riley is a versatile artist whose main medium is acrylics. This dynamic artist has won awards for her life like portraits. One of her most recent accomplishments was her original painting of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This original is now owned by his son Martin Luther King Jr. III. Mr. King has expressed his profound gratefulness for the extraordinary likeness to his father. It was in August of 2014 that Cheryl was honored in taking the first place win in a local multi-cultural festival. The first place win was for her portrait of Frederick Douglas.Cheryl Riley’s inborn talent has that “something special” that is unique and sets her apart as an artist whose time has come.
