Other People's Opinions

As artists, we are often thrown off course by the judgements of others…We may start to doubt ourselves and try to please them at the expense of our own beliefs about our work.
We should be free to create exactly as we choose. Other people’s opinions are just that….they belong to the speakers. We can listen, but we do not need to accept them as our truths. In accepting them we may do work that is not true to our own vision, acceding to the opinions of those who may have their own particular agenda
.

Some times as we listen, we may hear suggestions that we can use…Other times we may hear words that ring with envy or jealousy of our creative gifts. We can allow others to have their feelings but we don’t need to accept them…. We do not need to allow our lives to be controlled by other people’s judgements and convictions….

When we learn to stay detached, and start to feel secure about ourselves and our art, when we respect ourselves for own views, the opinions of others can be placed in true perspective…Janis…inspiration from The Artist’s Soul
