Australia Day.....

Today is Australia Day…………and although I think I am a little “united Nations” all on my own…..( and at 5’ 3" THAT is little..lol)….and I have left Aus many times ….there is ‘something’ about this Country that brings you back every time…….its a Hot Country
heat wise..and at times we complain so much about the heat………its a Hard Country
and gives nothing easily..but…if you work hard at it…with it…..it will reward you ‘enough’ to give you what it takes to go on………..it is a Beautiful Country with some of the most amazing Creatures God has to give…….it has some of the most
Breathtaking scenary that suddenly ‘appears’ when you least expect it……
and yes it has some of the world most dangerous creatures…but we need those to to appreciate the beautiful things………
Our Cities are amongst the most beautiful and Modern..with Sky scrapers reaching to the clouds….with now many different Cultures that add such Wonder and Beauty to this land…..but the Australia I love most of all is encapsulated in this song by
John Williams………….so I share this with you today…………and I thank Australia
and all who live here and call it Home……for allowing me to share this space……
to me THIS is Australia…..

By……John Williams………….. Home Among The Gum Trees

I’ve been around the world a couple of times or maybe more
I’ve seen the sights I’ve had delights, on every foreign shore
But when me mates all ask me the place that I adore
I tell them right away

Give me a home amongst the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
A clothes line out the back, verandah out the front,
and a old rocking chair.

You can see me in the kitchen cooking up a roast
or Vegemite on toast, just you and me, a cup of tea,
And later on we’ll settle down and mull up on the porch,
and watch the possums play.

Give me a home among the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo,
a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front
and an old rocking chair.

There’s a Safeway up the corner, and a Woolies up the street
a brand new place they’ve opened up where they regulate the heat
but I’d trade them all tomorrow for a simple bush retreat,
where the kookaburras call.

Give me a home among the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front
and an old rocking chair

Some people like their houses with fences all around
others live in mansions, and some beneath the ground
But me, I like the bush, you know with rabbits running round,
and a pumpkin vine out the back

Give me a home among the gum trees,
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front
and an old rocking chair (Rpt chorus)
