The Poets Visionary Brick and Scratch Card..

I saw a brick on a building
it seemed a special brick
and transfixed me
failing to stare it out
I tried to look around it
and pulled a
muscle in my
back
the brick
smiled at me
somehow
mocking me
tricking me
thanking
the brick
I walked away
holding my back

later after measuring
the rear of everything
without rubber gloves
I came across
a scratch card
face down
and painfully
picked it up
from the pavement
£2,ooo, £2,ooo, £750, £100, £50, £50
£7, £7 and £7
I had won
£7
so smiled
and put the
scratch card
into my pocket
and returned
to look at
the brick

It was still there!
staring at me
now sad looking
I reached for my
scratch card
and tried to
show it to
the brick
the brick
appeared
to look away
and fade
a communist brick
I thought
could be
nothing else
unless!
the scratch card
buyer didn’t
want to win
and dropped
the scratch card
on purpose
immediately
I let
the scratch card
fall to the floor
and looked at
the brick
the brick
now smiled
so I understood
why I looked at
the brick.
