Toss Away Dreams - A (K)Night Story

Quietly he tossed and turned but could not sleep
His vivid mind now racing wild
Many important images were stealing his thoughts
Even for this young child

He thought of huge giants and fire eating dragons
A pirate ship with a hidden treasure full of loot
He imagined his bright and shiny sword
And a dagger that he hid in his boot

A damsel in distress, he will heed the call
Riding out upon his white stead
From inside his knight’s amour his courage will show
That’s really all he would need

He galloped to victory and saved the day
Childhood giants and dragons must die
But his parents would worry if he did not sleep
His boyish dreams must now say goodbye

Away from me now, for I must get to sleep
Was his reluctant battle cry
Then he threw his thoughts up into the air
And lit up the dark night sky
