Artist's Description

Everyone knew that Anna was a spinster but there were rumors of a young man back in her early twenties who had swept her off her feet then disappeared. Whenever I saw Anna, she always looked so sad so I often wondered if the rumors had been true.

Almost every day Anna would spend time just staring out the window. Many times when I rode past her home I would see her face through the glass. A few times I thought I saw her crying but I could not be sure as the distance from the riding trail to her window was quite too far for me to see her face clearly.

Today as I rode past on my horse, I realized Anna was not at home or so it appeared. Curiosity got the better of me so I tied my horse to a tree and walked over to the window to have a peek inside.

No one twas here but it did appear as though Anna was expecting company. I wondered where she was, what was she doing and why wasn’t she at the window like usual? But no answers came to me .. only the light from the window.
