I had this belief / theory, that year: If my class were going to perform, they were going to do something that THEY had created. Not just be puppets / marionettes, carrying out something that an adult had produced.
I hoped that the music of Danse Macabre would inspire them and so their parents washed their costumes in the detergent so that the ‘bones’ would show up, on the darkened stage.
It was good fun, being ‘ghosts’ and ‘skeletons’ but I am not sure whether the audience appreciated the effort.
I believe that they’d hoped to see a little bit more ‘story’ than just the skeletons, rising from the graves and the ghosts, dancing about.
