Last photo taken, after visiting the beaches allocated to me by Keep Australia Beautiful, for assessment in the 2007 Clean Beach Challenge competition.
Then, back in the car and the 4 hour drive, back to Sydney.
(Actually the city looked rather spectacular, too, in the low, setting sun, viewed from the Freeway.)
More than just a beauty contest the Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Clean Beach Challenge program recognises, supports and facilitates best environmental practices for beaches.
“The Clean Beach Challenge is a great vessel to provide individuals, community groups, schools and councils with the recognition that they deserve. Only to often do quite achieving environmentalists pass by unnoticed despite their fantastic contribution to our beach environment. Keep Australia Beautiful NSW is instrumental in giving credit to those who “do their bit” for the environment” comments Peter McLean, Chief Executive Officer for Keep Australia Beautiful NSW.
“The beaches in NSW are some of the best in the world, this is highlighted by the many national winners including Toowoon Bay, Ned’s Beach and Austinmer Beach. Through the Clean Beach Challenge program, we want to keep them that way and I am sure that through our feedback and recognition we can,” said Peter McLean.
