Love it ! lol .
What’s 65 years between friends? Eh?
I now put a few comments here, to make sure that all the pictures on the right-hand side, are visible. I’ll admit it!..You already know that my mind works in strange ways…..but when I went to upload the picture of me and the blocks, I thought of today’s TV news about the situation with the ABC Learning Child Minding Centres.
Do you watch Spicks and Specks? Please match up the following descriptions, with the appropriate photos, on the right: Me and the boy who lived next door. Me with my father. Me with my cousin.Me ahead of one of the teachers, from my primary school.Me and the girl I (and my parents and her parents) whom I migrated with. Me and my aunt (out of shot) and my first bike. Me and my second bike.
Speaking of migration……Villawood Migrant Hostel ( Now a detention centre) has been very much on my mind lately. There was the 50 year celebration of Chester Hill North Public School and……..would you believe, the topic came up when the AGB Nielsen Media Research equipment was being attached to my t.v.. Two men came to do this. Two of us telling the other one what life was like for immigrants…..in our time!
Basil Fawlty: Zoom! What was that? That was your life, Mate! That was quick, do I get another? Sorry, Mate. Back to the world of dreams. Yes, dear?
What a diverse lot my cousins and I turned out to be. The four to my right are brothers and sisters.
I know that at least for of us, ended up in countries other than the Netherlands, where we were born, in Gouda. (This – above – was taken in the park, near the railway station.) My parents and I first ended up in foyr different migrant hostels, in Australia.
Gouda’s railway station has long since been given a more modern look. I HAVE been back four times. It’s such a small world now.
Still am!!! :)
