The Old Man

Yes, officer I’m sure it’s him, Charlie Toulsen. He used to live next door. I haven’t seen him since his wife died and his kids stopped coming over to visit. He was a quiet man, kept to himself. I kinda felt sorry for him all alone in that big house. Then one day he was gone. The older lady who works at the bank told me they repossessed his house and it needed a lot of work before they could resell it. I hired on with the Bailey crew to do the cleanup and remodel. The extra money was a big help with times being tough. To tell you the truth the place was trashed. I was the one who found his journal. I took it home with me that first night. Didn’t think much about it since everything was going to the dumpster.. took the quilts, some of the furniture too … but Bailey said it was ok. I’ve been so busy with the remodel I forgot about the journal until you called me. I hope it can give some clues as to who and why someone would have wanted to kill poor ol’ Charlie…
