Artist's Description

I’ve visited the grounds of Charles River Park a few times now in search of white squirrels. These squirrels are leucistic, not albino, meaning they have a defect in their pigment cells which only effects their skin and fur. That’s why their eyes are brown and not red like they would be with albinism. Whatever the cause, this unique coloring makes them more nervous and active than the usual Eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) and lots of fun to watch!
Since I won’t have a chance to visit them again for a few months, I’m adding a series of favorite shots from my introductory and first visits to the white squirrels.
