Artist's Description

Copley Square at the southeast corner of Boylston and Dartmouth Street lies just a few yards past the finish line of the world’s oldest annual marathon. Every May, the green square in front of Trinity Church naturally entices you to enjoy the beauty of spring in New England… clear blue skies, trees springing to life, flower beds overflowing with tulips, framed within the architectural beauty of Boston landmarks… Trinity Church, the Boston Public Library, the Copley Plaza Hotel and the John Hancock Tower.

But the first weekend of May 2013, these sights are overshadowed by an impromptu living memorial that is still growing from the outpouring of messages, prayers, flowers, running shoes, hats, t-shirts, stuffed animals, crosses, candles, photographs… left by hearts and spirits from around the world to share Hope and Love with all of us touched by the unspeakable sadness of the Boston Marathon bombings.
