Artist's Description

Clifford… The “Misunderstood” cat
This is Clifford. My son found Clifford as a stray while he was living in Florida for school.
My son already had another cat living with him, and whenever he would go outside with his kitty, Clifford would ALWAYS come running to be part of the action. This went on for over a month. Wherever my son would walk, Clifford was right behind. Well, with my son being such an animal lover, he decided to take him in and give him a home.
It appeared that Clifford had been living outside since lord knows when. He was thin, full of fleas, and his diet consisted of lizards, small rodents and an occasional bird.
Clifford is not a “people” cat, but is super attached to my son. Would you believe that this cat actually has separation anxiety? It is true! Whenever my son (who is now living with me with both of his cats), jumps in the shower, Clifford walks around howling this long drawn out meows. He does the same every time my son leaves the house. It is so sad to listen to, but at the same time, the bond that these two display is absolutely beautiful.
When my son is upstairs, the cats are right at his side. When he comes downstairs, there they are… right at his side. I swear, the follow him around like dogs!
The blending of my sons 2 cats with my 2 cats and 2 dogs went remarkably smooth. His cats get along with all animals. Mine however…. well, that’s a different story. My one cat “Sammie” can be pretty ruthless. We joke around and talk about how Sammie could take down a deer if she wanted to…. lol
My sons cats have never been around a “mean” cat, and it really confuses them. They just want to play and cuddle!
One time, when I was sitting on the recliner with my Maltese in my lap, my son brings Clifford over and begins to set him on my lap. Clifford, not being a real “people” lover was not happy about this, and began to hiss. I said to my son that I felt bad because Clifford doesn’t seem to like me, but his response was “No Mom, it’s not you that he hissed at… It was the SITUATION”….
lol Hissing at a “situation”… for some reason, that just struck me as funny. Still does actually :-)
Well, I can’t really say that I understand Clifford, and what makes him do what he does, but his Daddy sure does, and I guess that’s all that matters. This is why Clifford is called “Clifford… The misunderstood Cat”
