Artist's Description

Featured in ‘A Vision of Flight Photography’ and in ‘The Birds’

Trumpeter Swans were once a endangered species. Today, they have recovered to the point where thousands of the huge majestic birds can be seen in many parts of south western British Columbia, Canada. This bird was captured just as it became airborne while leaving a marshy area of the Comox Valley, on Vancouver Island. I was using a Nikon D700 with a 600 mm f4 lens and 1.4 teleconverter on a tripod (ISO 800, -1.0 EV, f8, 1/5000).
