Artist's Description

Most of us marvel at the aerobatics of swallows during the summer as they help us control nuisance insects like mosquitoes. Seldom, though, are we able to observe them closeup while they are perched. My long lens certainly helped when I spotted this little female alighted on a bare branch overlooking Oyster Bay. I think she was resting after much feeding activity. Oyster Bay is located on the east side of Vanvouver Island, Canada.

Captured on my D300, 600 mm lens mounted on my 1325 Gitzo tripod, F4, 1/640 second, ISO 450. Cropped, colours, clarity and saturation enhanced in CS3.
