Oscar Gallegos is a San Francisco based artist focused predominantly on printmaking, assemblage and decorative painting. He was born in Comala, Mexico, the hometown of renowned outsider and decorative artist, Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo. He grew up in Los Angeles where he was influenced by his explorations of Disneyland, MOCA and Little Tokyo. He has a B.A. degree from San Francisco State University in Studio Art. He has worked under Warner Graves as a decorative painter and guilder.

Gallegos’ work is a celebration of color that subverts traditional hetero-normative gender roles by juxtaposing feminine and masculine signifiers.
