In The Still Of The Night

In The Still Of The Night

I covered myself with a newspaper as I laid on a park bench.
A torn empty cup I licked as my thrist I tried to quench.
My pockets had no money so my stomach ached for food,
My bed was unconfortable being that it was bare wood.

I started to dream as the traffic around me got silent,
Then the world before me got ugly and dangerly violent.
Blood dripped on the snow from a stab on my chest,
I couldn’t make it stop as I tried all of my best.

They dragged me to the ground and off came the boots,
I reached for a small tree but weak were it’s roots.
A struggle for life as my heart on my chest pounded,
My hands couldn’t move as they were suddenly bounded.

Snow fell from the sky and soon in it I was burried,
My freezing body dreamed of whom I was once married.
I awoke a month later as I felt the warmth of a hand,
Happy I was to be alive and part of this land.

She feed me my food as I stared at her in wonder,
The lost love came back and of her I’ve grown fonder.
In the still of the night snow came down from the sky,
My life was spared for a reason and he knows why.
