A Soldier Died Today

The freedom of the wind resting on my smiling face,
The warmth of the glowing sun with dignity and grace.
My eyes shawdowed by the branches of a juvenile tree,
My hair waving in the breeze of a spirit that’s free.

A feeling so wonderous that swells all of my brain,
A heart that beats the coming of such a terrible pain.
Ears that detect the sounds of the running of feet,
Ears that will carry the noise of my demise and defeat.

They will capture me alive and punishment will follow,
They will toture my body and my pride I will swallow.
What a price to pay for a feeling of justice so true,
What a lost for freedom when fighting for it are a few.

Please have them return my body to our wonderful land,
Please everybody in my burial, salute as you stand.
I was a soldier that died for hopes of world peace,
I was a family man that you will respect if you please.

Tears fill my soul as I sense the capture arriving.
Tears spill to the ground as I fight for surviving.
Forget me not on celebrating veteran’s or memorial day,
Forget not to teach your children of how freedom came their way.
