I Still Look The Same

I took a picture of me today,
and I don’t look any older than yesterday.
You see, I saw myself through your eyes,
and your eyes don’t tell lies.

Your soul rose to heaven this past year,
and your mind took a picture of me my dear.
In that picture I still look the same,
and this new one I’m sending will bring me fame.

Haven’t grown hair atop my head,
and I sleep alone on my bed.
I’ve lost ten lbs since you went away,
and my hair has just a touch of gray.

The beard is turning white like snow,
but underneath I am still young as you know.
Still bowl and play golf to keep up my health,
and my heart is still full of energetic wealth.

No new car just my 71 Volkswagen Beetle,
and I still can’t sing or play the fiddle.
I still drive the red 1999 Dodge Pick-up truck,
while I continue to scratch lotto tickets hoping for some luck.

Tomorrow with be a new year,
and another picture to take with fear.
I will still look the same tomorrow,
but I hope someone will hear my sorrow.
