In Spirit Forever

This year there were no trees to decorate in my house,
As I let the Christmas spirit pass me by in darkness.
Didn’t feel like I wanted to celebrate with anyone,
And I know I did the right thing because I felt her.

My clothes were black and not the jolly red colors,
Because I listened to my heart cry out to me.
In my loneliness I felt the presence of my wife,
And the tears of joy blessed me with memories.

She was legally blind so I closed my eyes to see her,
And in the darkness I saw what she saw too.
There was a Christmas tree at the corner room,
And there she was opening her gifts from me.

I described the presents and she jumped with joy,
And the beautiful smile engulfed my inner soul.
She waved her fingers for me to come close to her,
Then she hugged me and kissed me with magic lips.

We embraced so tenderly with our two lovely boys,
Exchanging gifts and thanking the lord for everything.
She stood up from her wheelchair and looked at me,
And whispered in my ear, “I love you for always”.

Do not weep for me because I still enjoyed this day,
My wife is still in my visions and I love her so.
I will keep my eyes closed a little longer,
So that we can share one more private moment.

Gingerly I opened my eyes knowing she has left,
But I rejoiced the happy time I spent with her again.
I don’t know if she will visit the next coming year,
But today I thank God for giving me this precious day.
