Allow Me

Allow Me

Allow my tears to flow from my eyes and down into the gutter,
Let my eye lashes blink over my lenses like a camera’s shutter.
I saw your arms around my best friend at a secret dinner’s party,
I wasn’t permitted to attend because your parent’s say I’m rowdy.

Allow my heart to break like a child’s piggy bank when it is wanted,
Let my confused mind wonder in a ghostly world that is haunted.
I saw you take what I had saved inside my bank and give it away,
I wasn’t present to defend my love savings with words to say.

Allow my lips to dry from the passion you gave him with a kiss,
Let my soul escape to another world that you will never miss.
I saw how wet your expression smeared on his lips with that joy,
I wasn’t hoping that someone would steal a child’s favorite toy.

Allow me to walk away in shame and with a lost in pride of a love,
Let it fly away in gentle wings that only a pure bird’s name is a dove.
I saw how your eyes faced his and you did not even blink an eye,
I wasn’t careful enough to question, or to ask the reasons why.
