I Lost My Wife This Past Week

Friday I laid to rest the love of my life,
Yes, a wonderful mother and a loving wife.
We were married for over 34 years,
And I miss her as my eyes fill with tears.

Our two boys cried this Mother’s Day,
Monday night was when her heart went away.
Yesterday Sunday we visited her at her grave,
We cried before we said good bye and as we waved.

So many things undone or words not said,
Had a cardiac arrest and thirty minutes later she was dead.
Life support could not restore her brain,
Wish I could have said I love you because it’s not the same.

Decisions made that will forever haunt my heart,
Don’t know how to forgive myself as we part.
I’ll never forget the life we shared for all these years,
“Good-bye Maria,” now it’s time to face my fears.
