The Winter Storm of Christmas

The winter snow paralyzed my born natural friendly smile,
As my face displayed the bittersweet barefoot walk of twenty miles.
No food in the empty lining of my stomach as I pushed on,
My memory disorientated from the cold of Christmas of once upon.

Underneath the torn blanket that wrapped my skeletal fragile bones,
Was a broken heart that was so heavy and as hard as that of stones.
There was not a match to light a wooden log to keep me warm,
Only wind that broken my skin from the harsh surge of the winter storm.

With no more strength left to continue making tracks underneath my feet,
Vivid illusions appeared inside my head of the future I was about to meet.
Then I felt my soul leave my body as I saw myself buried in the snow,
When suddenly I sensed an angel break the ice with a mighty blow.

My eyes were shut as the shivering eased with the feeling of a coat of fur,
I vainly tried to opened them to see, but only saw what was to be a blurr.
There was no more tension inside of me as we traveled through the night,
The sleigh ride was smooth until I felt the time of day by the appearance of the light.

Swelling kept my eyes shut for another day and two nights after then,
And when I opened them I was surrounded by people asking where I had been.
With no explanation I question not whom this all wonderful people were,
My life had changed and there was no need to worry myself or cause such a stir.
