A Letter To My Ex

Republic Of Viet-Nam

Dear Love,
Sorry I haven’t had time to write but my duties as a soldier has taken much of my time. Just last month I lost two of my closes friends, better yet, two brothers of mind. You see, we miss our love ones back home and we have to rely on each other for support. Our only family here is the soldier that fights next to you and that you depend on because our lives depend on each other. I know you were angry because you hadn’t heard from me for quite a while, and for that I am sorry. I was writing letters to those two soldiers love ones back home. I had to tell them the bad news, I cried while I wrote them about it.
I just read your letter for the tenth time and it pains me to hear how hard it is for you back home. You said you were angry and decided to go to a club for a few innocent drinks. Your friends encouraged you to have a good time because you were hurt because of my actions. I too was hurt last month along side my friends, but I guess you failed to read it because you too were very busy. Wow, what a hard life you must be having. Don’t’ worry about my wounds, they are healing very well and I should be back in combat pretty soon, or, at least that’s what they tell me. As for your broken heart, I’m sure it hurts a lot and I hope you recover very soon.
You won’t have to explain your actions as I have mine. You see, I got a letter from your own parents and they already apologized for your actions. They told me of that friend of yours that you brought home. I guess you were really missing me, right! It’s not the first time you have done it, your parents are great people and always tell me the truth, which a lot more that you can say about yourself. They love me more than you ever will, and they hope I don’t come home to you.
I already wrote to them and they will wait for me when I arrive back in the states, but don’t bother to show up. I wish I had my parents, but we can’t have everything. I won’t be the same person when I get home, but at least they have known of my wounds long before you have. They tell me you haven’t had time to read your mail, I guess that explains why you haven’t heard from me. I guess you forgot who empties the trash cans everyday.
Sorry I don’t have much to say, I am just a boring man doing what is right for his country. The war will not end tomorrow, but my feelings for you will. Tell you parents I will see them when I get home. Oh, almost forgot, YOU BITCH!
Your boyfriend of 5 yrs
PS. Correction, your ex boyfriend of 5yrs two days
