Larry Gets the Winning Invisible Baseball Part IV

Larry Gets The Invisible Winning Baseball Chapter VByOscar ElizondoLarry was very ill after his last game of playing soccer with the invisible ball. His parents had gotten some bad news about his chances for recovery. They stayed by his bedside for eighteen straight days while he was still in a coma. On the last day of his coma the parents received a strange phone call from a group of boys that said, " Dear parents of Larry, please turn the television on in Larry’s room and let him hear our message to him. We will be on channel 18 around 2:00 PM on August 25th."At first they were reluctant to do it because Larry’s state of mind was not in any conscious form to know what was happening to him. When they gave in to the request to turn the television on they whispered in his ear about their intend. Their son had not moved from the time he had been in the hospital, but they went along with it anyway. When the show came on there was a baseball team in uniform addressing the live and television audience. “Larry, we made it to the Little League World Series and we want to thank you for letting us use that invisible baseball of yours. You showed us that anything could be achieved through hard work and believing in ourselves. Every strike, every ball, and every out you called as our umpire made us believe that you can still play with an invisible ball. You taught us that a team is made of players who can follow a leader that believes in them. You are our hero, and we hope to bring a championship trophy home to prove what a great inspiration you continue to be to us.” After that a little girl by the name of Lucy and with a beautiful voice sang the National Anthem. The game started as Larry’s sobbing parents looked on. The game went to the bottom of the ninth and final inning with the score tied at five apiece. The boy in the coma suddenly opened his eyes as the parents hugged him in disbelieve. He spoke and said, “Sit me up dad, and mom put the volume up, these are my friends playing in the Little League World Serious.”Larry had a great big smile and it covered up the painful look on his face from the ordeal of his sickness. When the biggest boy in the team hit a homerun Larry’s eyes widened so much that his face got back it’s natural color. The sick boy stood up in bed and cheered his team. After the game there was a presentation of the trophy and the team hoist it up and delivered another speech. “Hey, Larry, get up we’re coming home and you better be there to umpire our game!”The big boy that had hit the homerun then spoke, “Hey, chicken legs, here’s the winning ball, now catch it.”Larry reached out and caught the invisible baseball. There was a loud clap sound that came from his hands. The redness on the palm of his hands indicated that something hard had hit them. “Ouch, that hurt dad! Can you please put this invisible baseball in my room on the shelve with the rest of the balls too?”
