Left For Dead

Left For DeadByOscar Elizondo

While I was staring at the stars above,
They were looking at comic books of heroes.
When I took the time to read science books,
They were busy blasting music from their stereos.

The day that I over slept after studying all night,
They were still up early in the morning drinking.
The day that I spent filling out employment forms,
They were smoking their careers away and sinking.

That summer hot day when my parents died from no electricity,
They were stealing clothing from stores in the mall.
And the day they beat me like a rag doll and left me,
They were too busy as the ambulance waited for their call.

While locking up criminals yesterday into their permanent cells,
They were making plans to escape from the prison walls.
Unknown to them is that I am the person they beat one day,
And that I know their next moves and all their pit falls.
