Comfort In The Garden

Seeking comfort after the long winter snow,
I walk in the garden where the growth is slow.
Tiny seeds have barely broken the layer of soil,
Melting snow turned into moisture after their spoil.

Like little children out for the first time in the sun,
Watching their stems rise in the spring makes it fun.
I see future flowers of red and blue colors growing,
A generation from parents that died from winter’s snowing.

Bushes and trees with strong roots that have since turned green,
Such beauty is restoring my faith in nature and the best I’ve seen.
Swaying tiny leaves that wave with the wind as it blows,
Smiling at me and happy to reflect the sun that makes their glow.

Underneath the layers of soil I notice the movement of earth worms,
Working to toil dirt into nourishment after sleeping in their dorms.
I see birds with feathers vivid in colors of the rainbow watching below,
It was them that dropped seeds and they have returned to see them grow.
