Artist's Description

The Fighter Collection’s Hawk H75C-1 G-CCVH pictured getting its wheels up after take off during the Duxford Flying Legends Display in 2013. Hawk 75C-1s were used by the French Air Force at the outbreak of WW2 but when the fall of France seemed inevitable they were flown to Britain. They were taken on charge by the RAF as Curtiss Mohawk IIIs and used mainly outside Europe as they were outperformed and outgunned by the Messerschmitt Bf109E.
