As a lot of you will know I don’t have a lot of time to spent on the Bubble these days due to a combination of disability and coursework. So there are a lot of fantastic images that I’m way behind with commenting on. And I never reply to comments on my own work – preferring instead to use my limited typing /mouse time to look at other people’s work and comment on it.…

My course is going well and I’m really enjoying it – but it’s incredibly intense. I can’t wait for the Christmas holidays to get a wee break, I’m permanently exhausted at the moment.

Anyway – I have managed to submit a few photos to the new ‘Shetland but also Orkney’ group. I am honoured that I have had a number of images featured in the group already – and that one of my images has been chosen as the group’s winter avatar. I

Apologies for lack of comments

People have been kind enough to comment on my work, and for the past couple of months I’ve hardly been replying to any comments and also hardly commenting on anyone’s work. This is partly due to disability meaning that it’s difficult for me to use the computer for long, but mostly due to the fact that I’m currently away from home for a year training as a primary school teacher. It’s a very intense course – so I don’t have much free time to come onto the Bubble lately, but also I’m mostly restricting my limited computer use to coursework. I do still pop in and look at the great work here from time to time, but don’t often get the chance to comment on it. Hopefully in the holidays I’ll get the chance to catch up a little….

Excitement - sales!!!

Really excited that I’ve sold 5 cards (from my puffins and begonia series’). Many thanks to Oiseau for buying – I hope you’re happy when they arrive.

It feels so good to have made ‘real sales’ as opposed to sales to family and friends. And it feels almost surreal that someone on the other side of the world has just thought highly enough of my work to pay for it – wow! I’m stunned.

Inspiration and experiments

The weather has been very dull and uninspiring in Orkney lately for taking photos – flat light, strong winds, cold …… So instead I’ve been inspired by a lot of the work I’ve seen on Redbubble into playing around with some new techniques both out with the camera and indoors on the computer.…

I’ve been experiementing with HDR, black and white, and selective colour. Not sure where these experiments will lead me, possible nowhere, but it’s filled in some time nicely and kept my mind off stressful work issues.

I’m always happy to receive comments, advice and suggestions to improve my photography. Thanks to those who have offered comments and praise, and to all of you for the wonderful, inspiring work on here.

I don’t tend to use the reply button to reply to your comments on my work as I prefer

Back online

Have been offline for a while due to a house move and having no internet access for the first few weeks. Now back online, and I see there’s a massive backlog of new photos for me to look through. It could take some time…..

I’m also limited by wrist problems to not using the computer for too long each day, but I’ll hopefully get a few new photos added myself soon. I got a new compact waterproof digital camera for Christmas so later in the year I’ll hopefully have nore kayaking pics. I didn’t take as many photos of the Orkney Ba as I thought I would as I was playing with the video feature on my new compact camera :-)

Belated Happy New Year to everyone, hope it’s a successful year for you all.

Good news

Hi everyone,…

My 2nd journal entry…… it’s been a busy time as I’ve just moved house. Now getting some great sunrises and sunsets, but haven’t had much time to get out with the camera.

Unfortunately we don’t have internet access yet so I haven’t been able to upload any new images for a while. We’ll hopefully get properly online around 10th January so I’ll try to have something new to upload then – probably some images from the Kirkwall Ba game, which is a sort of street football game which takes place on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in Kirkwall, Orkney.

I had some good news right before Christmas, telling me that I won the December round of a photo competition which I entered, which means that my photo is now in the final round which gets voted on by visitors to the website. http://www.
