Artist's Description

A dvd cover for a movie I made recently. High school project. Did a lot of the production myself, but although had help with subtitles, props and locations. There was also a lot help with directing and rehearsing.

Most of us know this story, I am sure. It’s the classic ‘horror’ tale by W.W. Jacobs about a cursed Monkey’s Paw.

It’s a short story, but deals with complex themes—fate and our incapacity to change it and the futility of trying to do anything about our lot in life. In fact, the opening motif of the chess game raises the issue of predestination—i.e., even in attempting to change fate are the characters in the story simply following a course of action that has already been predetermined by fate/God to lead them to their destruction.

Jacobs then gets stuck into a central issue in all theological schemes.

A lot of software was used in post-production—Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop. Sonic Scenarist for authoring the Dvd etc, etc.

In the end it had a stereo, five one and DTS audio tracks with the main movie.

Lot of work.
