I'm a Diamond in the Rough

I am a Diamond in the rough,

And it’s really tough,

Knowing I’m not good enough,

I ain’t trying to bluff,

I know I’m strong,

But it’s not showing,

And before long,

I saw that my deen ain’t growing,

I just went along,

Trying to be easygoing,

This is not a poem or a song,

This is my heart blowing,

My heart forgoing,

My heart glowing,

This is my heart towing,

My heart towing me from wrong to right,

From dark to bright,

From loss to tight,

From black to white,

This might,

Just might,

Sound like I’m angry,

But I’m not,

I’m in a fight,

A fight with myself,

Just me no one else,-

My life in and of itself,

Is another book on a shelf,

When you’re a diamond in the rough,

Life’s gonna be rough to you,

It’s gonna be after you,

It’s gonna be a day in the zoo,

A hullabaloo,

Like the red, white, and blue,

Yet in relation to,

Your life is up to you,

Even though it is written out in pen,

It’s not a game channel like E.S.P.N,

Or a one way window like C.N.N.,

But then again and again,

You have control over it,

You have life’s manual and tool kit,

The Qur’an is there when you need it,

You don’t need a work permit,

And no need to throw a fit,

You just need to repent and admit,

Admit to yourself,

Say the truth yourself,

Read the Qur’an,

Go to www.whyislam.com,

It doesn’t matter weather you’re an Uncle Sam or uncle tom,

Just as long that you follow Islam,

And you’re not a diamond in the rough like saddam,

Instead smile to your brother and say Salam,

And whatever happens in this world you just have to be calm,

Heaven is under the feet of your mom,

So if your in the rough just come on,

We got to get out the rough and get on a ring,

A diamond ring that can’t break or cling,

We have to stand up for what’s right like Martin Luther King,

We are not part of the right wing until we get out the rough ,

Yet strangely enough,

I get put in hand cuffs,

Just for saying the truth,

And us youth got a role to play,

Yet the media takes us astray,

Putting us back in the rough,

And leaving us to decay,

And still every day I pray,

That the freedom of speech will let me say what I want to say,

And I won’t be quiet until my body is ashy and gray,

Because then my body died for this deen,

Died to keep this world clean,

Clean from the villains that look nice but they mean,

But my soul,

Which is really me,

Never died as you will see,

When you to will flee,

From this world and from this sea to shining sea

I'm a Diamond in the Rough
