Artist's Description

Travel is the ultimate voyeurism. We find ourselves in someone’s home taking a peek around. Everything is exotic from the huts by the side of the road to buying a soft drink. We tell ourselves we live in a global village but we forget we’re all visitors here. Then we’ll be wandering through some ruins of a half forgotten dominant culture and we remember that this is someone’s backyard, we weren’t invited. Wipe your feet before you enter here.

What do you take with you when you go home? Silks and postcards. A notion of heat, a memory of the grit in the water and a snapshot of children collecting discarded water bottles.
