The truths of a self-consumed guy who has a sudden realisation

There’s a girl in the corner, crying her eyes out for you. But do you care? No you don’t, you care about your image, about your reputation and about yourself. You walk right on by trying to focus your attention on something else….Suddenly a strange feeling comes over you, one you’ve never felt before. Its compassion, Its caring about someone else. You walk towards the girl, subconsiously wondering if she’s ok but wanting not to care. You sit next to her and are welcomed with a warm yet sobbing embrace. You are welcomed not because you are all mighty and powerful but because she needs somebody and you were the only one that came to her rescue. You weren’t meaning to be a hero but you came at the right time. Thats what real heroes do, they don’t go into a situation for the recognition, they go in for the knowledge that they are helping someone and the recognition and praise is just a bonus.

You finally realise what its all about. All this time you haven’t cared but once you try to reason with the situation it clicks. This is your purpose, to be this girls one and only companion through a rough patch, to be her shoulder to cry on, consoler, sympathiser.
