Artist's Description

There is an expression “he’s got bats in his belfry”, which implies that the person is muddled or empty headed. The bells call people to worship, or sound out for a wedding, or warn of danger, or sound off the hour. The bells are the audible presence of a church in a comunity.

These bells are housed in the All Saints Church tower at Easton on the Hill, Northamptonshire.
