Artist's Description

This beautiful scene really is a photo and not a painting. Sited in the heart of Rome can easily be missed. Near to but not in the massive area containing the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum, it is at the north end of the Via dei Fori Imperiali, which has the coliseum at its southern end. The tall column in the middle ground is the Colonna Traiana completed in AD 113. I have not been able to establish the names of the two churches in the shot.

The shot was taken with a Samsung NX1000 20 mega pixel camera at f5.6, ISO 100, 1/5500 sec, with a Samsung 20-50mm f3.5-5.6 ED lens. I was surprised to find this camera and lens combination produced super shots. Unfortunately the camera has a very slow processor.
