My Friend

My friend, do you remember?
In primary school we formed a band,
And our parents had to give a donation just to hear us sing.

My friend, do you remember?
Before the disco you taught me some moves,
And I stole your spotlight, dancing the night away with your brother.

My friend, do you remember?
That day your dam dried up,
And we thought it would be fun to have a mud bath.

My friend, do you remember?
When we went to the beach and didn’t intend on going swimming.
We swam in our underwear and dried off with a tea towel.

My friend, do you remember?
Those times we’d waste away with a microphone and a few CDs.
We’d sing until our voices gave out.

My friend, do you remember?
All the crazy, stupid, wonderful things we’ve done together.
Because I remember.

So many memories, I never want to forget.
My friend, will you promise?
Let’s keep this going forevermore,
So we can look back one day and say: wow, I remember.

Artist's Description

Although words can’t describe the many memories and moments I’ve had with my friend, this is just a teensy taste of some of those memories. She is my best friend in the world and life would be incredibly dull without her.
