Artist's Description

These poles represent the old village that was swallowed by the sea many years ago. They line out 10 houses and a church. A great way to keep such a great memory.

The original village dates all the way back to 739 AC and completly vanished in the sea in 1421.
They defended the village later with dykes but nevertheless in 1625 more than 100 houses and the church were lost in the sea yet again.

Then, in 1943 the entire town was demolished by the germans in order to make room for their Atlantikwall. After the war the village was built up again, a little more to the west.

Taken in the netherlands, noirth sea, with Nikon D750 and sigma 35 mm art lens. Using a 10 ND filter and a very long shutterspeed.
