Artist's Description

The Sun sets on the Echo Drive In, both literally and figuratively. I didn’t realize it at the time that I’d photographed this theatre, but it was slated for demolition several months later. The waning light shows the gentle curvature of the screen. If you look close at the larger view of this image you can see the wading pool/fountain to the lower left of the screen. The Drive In was along Route #51 in Large, PA…not far from the Century III mall.

I think I only ever went to one drive in movie … so i just caught the end of this era. When you look back on it now it was a pretty bizarre idea.
