Damsel

You gallop along on your white horse,
Searching for your damsel to save.

You look in all the right spots for your girl in distress.
Hospitals, graveyards, and rehab facilities.

One day on your hunt you happen upon a grave.
There she is, oh look how beautiful!

Long flowing white sundress,
You think white to a funeral, yeah, that’s deep.

You look to her eyes, they’re tearful,
Perfect.

She’s damaged,
She needs you.

You’ve found her.

You dope! If you’d just look a little more to the right.
You’d catch the sight of all sights.

She’s playing with the kids that would-be grieving.
She’s dancing, loudly, yeah she’s singing.

She painted over the gray sky and made it gay.
Her smile is to be coveted, searched for.

She’s a damsel, sure, but not in distress,
She’s the damsel in the zebra-print dress.

A few years before, she stood in the black dress,
Over the grave, eyes veiled.

A few years ago her cheeks were stained,
With eye mucus, tears and mascera

But she’s fought her fight and she’s healed up just fine.
With knight or no knight.

She’s dealt with her trials, now let her be.
Why can’t you fall in love with someone not in need?

She’s your woman, your love
Go get her quick.

For I’m sure a jester she’d rather pick
Than a dour and gloom knight who needs to save her.

Please kill the strife,
You’re gonna lose her, lose her for life.

That dainty bit in the white little dress
She’ll find herself a knight, any will do.

Till she’s healed and doesn’t need you.
But here you have your damsel.

She wants fun and laughter,
Not death or danger.

Don’t stick her onto horse and walk gallantly beside it.
Hop up behind her, go gallop through the night.

End on a shore with drifted beechwood, on which to dance,
Roll in the sand, look at the stars,

Forget her troubles,
She’s gotten over her scars.

She needs a man, a friend,
Not someone to baby sit her.

I promise your high horse,
Is much more comfortable without armor.

So come on, go get her,
She’s the girl of your dreams.

She’s a damsel, sure, but not in distress
She’s a damsel in the zebra-print dress.

Artist's Description

I absolutely ABHOR knights, they piss me off. sorry if your out there and your a knight, but i just don’t like them, I’m not a total feminist by any means, but knights upset me and this is what came forth. Actually, this is a re-creation. The original I lost and it crushed me so I decided to try to re-do it. I’ll probably edit it up some more, but for now. enjoy!
